Where to Eat Before a Show at the Almeida Theatre

Wine and Italian dinner at La Divina

A theatre evening is much more enjoyable when dinner has a place in the plan. Instead of arriving hungry or watching the clock between courses, choose your restaurant booking around the performance and give yourself a little breathing space.

For Italian dinner before the Almeida Theatre, La Divina is at 134 Upper Street in Islington. The theatre is on Almeida Street, just off Upper Street, so you can keep dinner and the performance in the same neighbourhood.

Start with your ticket, then book dinner

Check the start time printed on your ticket before reserving a table. An early curtain needs a different dinner plan from a later performance. Factor in your journey to Islington, the meal itself and time to reach the theatre and find your seat.

As a planning suggestion, allow around 90 minutes for a two-course meal, plus your walk and theatre arrival time. This is a suggested buffer, not a service-time promise. If your schedule is tight, call before booking so we can discuss what is realistic.

When you arrive, tell the team which performance you are attending and when you need to leave. Ordering food together and requesting the bill before your final departure time can help the evening run smoothly.

Choose a menu that fits your evening

Our pre-theatre dining page explains the current Theatre Menu: two courses and a drink for £30.95 per person, available Sunday to Thursday. It is not available on Fridays or Saturdays. The included drink is a 175ml house wine, 33cl Moretti or soft drink.

For a Friday or Saturday theatre visit, browse the restaurant menus instead. Check current availability and any exclusions before making your plans.

Make the meal part of the occasion

You do not need to fit every course into one sitting. Decide whether your priority is a leisurely starter and main or a simpler meal with more time to chat. Let everyone in your party see the menu beforehand, especially if you are arriving separately.

Tell us about dietary requirements when booking and discuss allergies directly with the team before ordering. Advance notice helps us answer questions without using up your dinner time.
