Planning a Christmas Dinner in Islington: A Guide for the Organiser

Christmas celebration at La Divina

Christmas dinner often begins with one person trying to bring everyone's plans together. Someone needs an early finish, someone is vegetarian and several people have yet to confirm. A few decisions at the start make the whole booking easier.

If you are organising a work Christmas meal or a gathering with friends in Islington, use this checklist before you send the invitations.

Agree a date and a realistic headcount

Ask for two possible dates rather than an open-ended list of preferences. Collect an approximate number first, then set a deadline for firm replies. Tell the restaurant whether your number is confirmed or still an estimate; a table for twelve and a party of twenty need different arrangements.

At La Divina, group enquiries can be sent to info@ladivina.co.uk. Include your preferred date, arrival time, expected guest count and a contact number so the team can respond to the actual plans.

Decide between lunch and dinner

A daytime gathering can work well for colleagues travelling home afterwards. An evening meal may suit a group looking to make a full night of it. Agree an approximate budget, including drinks and any applicable service charge, before asking everyone to choose dishes.

Our 2026 festive season runs from 20 November 2026 to 2 January 2027. Festive lunch is served until 5pm, with two courses at £29.95 or three at £33.95. Festive dinner is served after 5pm, with two courses at £35.95 or three at £39.95. Check the festive menus for dishes, supplements and current terms. Christmas Day and New Year's Eve may have separate arrangements; ask about your exact date.

Gather dietary information in one place

Ask each guest for their name, menu choice if requested, and any dietary requirements. Keep allergies distinct from preferences, and pass the information to the restaurant together. Do not assume a dish can be adapted without checking.

If a pre-order is required, agree its deadline with the team and give your guests an earlier internal deadline. That leaves time to chase the last replies.

Confirm the booking details in writing

Before collecting money, confirm the deposit, cancellation terms, menu requirements and final-number deadline for your booking. The festive page lists a £5-per-person deposit for groups of eight or more; confirm any special-date terms directly.

Then send guests one clear message with the address, arrival time and agreed arrangements. La Divina is at 134 Upper Street, London N1 1QP.
